Serve The Community
“Jesus said, ‘For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.”
–Matthew 25:35,36,40

Mother to Mother Recovery Center
St. Albans first met Tlayra Jordan at our 2024 Lenten Luncheon Series, where she gave a program on the Mother to Mother Recovery Center, a 12-month residential facility
specifically designed to help women rebuild their lives. This initiative was born out of her deep understanding of the unique challenges that women in recovery face, especially when it comes to reconnecting with their children.
We were so impressed with her, and the passion she had for Mother to Mother that the members of our church opened our arms and began an immediate support program to those in Recovery through Mother to Mother. Parishioners have kept up a steady stream of donated toiletry items, winter coats and jackets, linens and more. Several of us have toured the Recovery home and met the ladies in the program. We are delighted to support this program and every time we take a donation of items, we always ask “What are your needs and how can we help?

SafeHouse Ministries, Inc.
SafeHouse was established in the Elberton Community in 1994 and is a short term shelter for victims of domestic violence and homelessness, as well as a food bank for the local community.
St. Alban’s Elberton has been a strong partner with SafeHouse Ministries, Inc. for more than 10 years. Church members not only make monetary donations on a regular basis, but supply needed canned goods and paper goods. SafeHouse assists individuals with housing, receives and distributes donations of clothing and household goods, and is also constantly refilling a much needed food pantry. On average, SafeHouse serves about 100 families per month with food. The food pantry is open to an individual or family in need. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 10-12pm and 1-3pm.
